    The Micasensor MS150 model is an easy-to-use hand-held metal detector with the additional capability to detect and locate gamma-radioactive substances in baggage, objects, and personnel. In a single scan, the MS150 simultaneously detects metals and radioactive materials, substantially reducing clearance time and the number of instruments required at the checkpoint.

    What sets the MS150 apart from comparable products is the sensitivity of its gamma detector. The MS150 uses a CsI(Tl) scintillation detector — the same technology found in dedicated personal radiation detectors (PRDs) used in homeland security. This sensitivity substantially extends the range of applications, making the MS150 particularly useful in situations where the use of a conventional PRD is impractical. For example, its familiar metal-detector housing allows operators to perform a discreet radiation scan during a routine security check.

    Another key application area is medical-waste management, where simultaneous control of syringe needles and radioactively contaminated substances is required.

    The MS150 can be used both indoors and outdoors for the inspection of people, vehicles, luggage, premises, and open areas. It requires little or no training and is convenient to use.
