  • Description

The new Micasensor model MS-2702M is precise and easy to use Diffusion Aerosol Spectrometer (DAS), capable for sizing aerosol particles from 3 to 10000 nm (nanometer) in diameter, measuring its concentration in the air and collecting particle size distribution spectra. It can be used for variety of applications, but is found to be the most efficient while checking the workplace air quality and efficiency of filtration system in various industrial applications.

By connecting DAS station before the air filtration system and collecting the aerosol particles spectra, and after that comparing the aerosol particles spectra after the air filtration system, it is possible to perform two tasks simultaneously: a) find the most penetrating particle size (MPPS) of the measured filter media, and b) measure filtration efficiency for that MPPS in %. When two DAS stations are connected simultaneously before and after the filter media, they can operate in the networked mode and provide real-time measurement results, including differential spectra analysis.

The MS-2702M spectrometer can be deployed as desktop analytical laboratory instrument or be delivered in mobile version, mounted on the wheel cart and powered from 12V rechargeable battery. All models are equipped with sampling air inlet that provides isokinetic air sampling for ease of connection to ventilation ducts and tubes.

  • Operation

While working as stand along instrument, the MS-2702M DAS has three operation modes:

Submicron particles measurement mode. In this mode the MS-2702M DAS allows measurement of concentration in air of particles which diameter is in the range from 0.2 to 10 micron. In this mode the instrument does not differentiate particles based on its size and provide gross particles concentration number. This mode does not require instrument warm-up time and can start immediately after selection.

Condensation particles counter mode. In this mode the MS-2702M DAS allows measuring concentration of particle sizes in the whole measurement range (from 5 nm to 10 micrometer in diameter). It provides gross count number, without particles’ size differentiation. This mode, as well as Diffusion spectrometer mode, requires 5 to 10 minutes warm-up time.

Diffusion spectrometer mode. In this mode the MS-2702M DAS provides precise size distribution of aerosol particles in the range from 5 to 200 nm in diameter and builds high resolution spectra in real-time. Data are displayed on the instrument’s LCD and can be saved in *.xls format or uploaded to the network over the LAN interface.

  • Delivery Models

There are three basic delivery options for the DAS MS-2702M:

Desktop. Designed mainly for the laboratory use. The instrument is powered from AC power source and has built in TFT 7” tough screen display:

Mobile cart-mounted. Designed for the field use. Power supply is provided from 12V DC rechargeable battery installed on the mobile wheel cart. All data is displayed on ruggedized personal computer which can be connected to the network through wired or wireless interfaces.

As a set for checking efficiency of industrial filtration systems. Includes two mobile cart-mounted MS-2702M spectrometers, the set of accessories for the network use, and user software, that allows simultaneous operation of two DAS units. One spectrometer is usually connected to the duct be- fore the filtration system and another one after. Any of the units could work in Master or Slave mode exchanging data with each other. This allows finding MPPS and checking efficiency of the filtration system in the real time mode.
